Stuff for Stockings
Five dollars buys someone a recipe they have never made, with the spices to make it. Fifty cents buys them a spice they have never used. Buy them one at a time or by the handful, for stockings, party favors, or the candy jar on somebody's desk.
Trying something new in the kitchen is easier when it costs fifty cents. Both of these are built for that, at two different sizes.
Fifty cents each. One spice, herb, salt, sugar, or natural food color in a sample size packet, which is enough to cook with once or twice and work out whether you want a whole jar of it. Around a hundred to choose from.
Five dollars each. A recipe postcard with the spice packets that recipe calls for, so the experiment is already planned. Three packets for a simple one, six for a bigger one, and nothing else to buy.
2 to 3 teaspoons in every packet
The usual suspects are all there, and so are the ones people do not expect: three Moon Milk drink mixes, the natural food colors that turn frosting blue or pink without a bottle of dye, maple sugar, and both kinds of herbes de provence.
A recipe card and the spices to cook it
The recipes were shared with us by creators we have worked with for years. Kelly Ryan's Molten Lava Cake and Chocolatey Rum Balls, Maggie Frank's Almond + Cardamom Biscotti, Karyn Maier's Holiday Rush Glögg, Brianna Shaver's Lemon Ginger Bars, and a few out of our own kitchen. Which samplers are in stock changes week to week, as some sell out and new recipes earn one, so the shelf is the honest place to look.
