Black Cacao Brownies
With Marshmallow Fluff Ghosts
a sweet treat recipe
Kayla is a self-taught home cook and baker. Growing up with her grandparents, she would spend hours in front of the TV watching the Food Network. She and her grandmother would mold play-dough into different fruits and vegetables while watching cooking shows and have contests to see who made the most realistic dish. Eventually, Kayla moved on from play-dough and began to work with real food. On her blog, enrootkitchen.com, you’ll find recipes made from scratch for the home cook and baker ranging from all skill levels! She also showcases these dishes on her Instagram: @enrootkitchen.

directions
  • Add the butter to a medium sized saucepan and melt over medium low heat. While the butter is melting, chop the white chocolate and set to the side.

  • Once the butter has melted, add the white chocolate and stir until all of the chocolate has melted. Now, add in some freshly scraped vanilla bean from the vanilla bean pod. Stir to combine and set to the side to cool slightly.

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.

  • Whisk the eggs, egg yolk, and sugar in a large bowl until you have a pale yellow color (this should take about 45 seconds). Add the infused white chocolate to the sugar and egg mixture and mix until fully incorporated. Set aside for now.

  • Mix the flour, baking soda, black cacao powder, and salt in a small bowl. Fold into the wet ingredients until combined. Spread the brownie batter into your prepared pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.

  • Allow the brownies to cool completely, then use the back of a spoon to spread marshmallow fluff "ghosts" onto the brownies. Make as many as you'd like and top each ghost with two sprinkles each for eyes. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
