This delicious pumpkin bread combines the rich, nutty flavors of brown butter and bourbon with the warmth of pumpkin pie spice. Browning the butter is worth that extra step, especially when combining it with bourbon, to add more depth to the flavor. The result is a moist, delicious pumpkin bread that's sure to impress your taste buds and guests.

  • In a large skillet, add butter over medium heat and stir frequently until bubbling and slowly carmelizes and browned. Butter is browned when it smells nutty and carmelized and has a dark brown color (about 5-10 mins). Be careful not to let it burn so watch carefully! Remove from heat.

  • In a large bowl, mix wet ingredients together including pumpkin purée, bourbon, eggs, vanilla extract, oil, and brown butter.

  • In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients together including flour, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, pumpkin pie spice, and nutmeg. Then add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix for a few mins until you get a thick batter. Add chopped walnuts and mix to combine.

  • Preheat oven to 350F and add batter to greased loaf pan and bake for 55-65 mins until toothpick to the center comes out clean.

tips
If you don't to use bourbon, you can swap it out with apple cider vinegar instead.
