Mexican Chocolate Brownies

Chocolate + chilis are a classic flavor combination commonly paired in Mexican cuisine. These fudgy chocolate brownies are flavored with cinnamon and chili powder for just a hint of spice and a uniquely delicious flavor.

Combine the butter and bittersweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in 30-second intervals until melted and smooth. (Alternatively, heat chocolate and butter in a double boiler until melted and smooth).

In a large bowl, combine sugar and eggs and whisk very well to combine. Then add the chile powder, cayenne, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt, and mix to combine.

Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the large bowl while whisking and continue to whisk until smooth. Finally, fold in the cocoa powder and flour with a rubber spatula and mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into an 8x8 baking pan lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350°F for 26-28 minutes. Sprinkle with fleur de sel, slice, and serve.
