Nothing will soothe your soul and warm your toes more than velvety hot chocolate spiked with a bit of rum and spice. Cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg bring their magical flavors to this beverage, while a dash of cayenne provides a spicy kick.

Combine the milk, sugar and cacao powder in a small saucepan and heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the cacao and sugar have completely dissolved. Whisk in the spices and salt. Remove from heat and immediately stir in the rum. Pour into a mug and enjoy!

For garnish, top with whipped cream or float a marshmallow or two.
