Savory is a member of the mint family with narrow, lance-shaped green leaves. Its aroma is herbaceous albeit slightly pungent with peppery notes and subtle undertones of mint. Its flavor profile is also peppery with elements of marjoram and thyme.
Savory can be found along with marjoram, rosemary, and thyme in Herbes de Provence. It is also used in seasoning meats, beans, or in vinaigrettes and dressings.
