GINGER BINGE

Welcome to our overview of the various form of ginger we offer. You'll find brief descriptions of each type accompanied by usage recommendations. Further down this page, we have a handful of bakes, beverages, and even a ginger bark that we hope will inspire you to run to the kitchen to try them yourself.

Ginger Root, ground
Ground ginger root is a familiar spice at home amongst other fall baking spices like cloves nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice. In addition to being readily added to sweet bakes during the holiday season it is also a common spice in savory cuisine, particularly in Asian dishes, think: curries and stews.
Ginger Root, chopped
Chopped ginger root is most often used in infusions. Adding chopped ginger root to a tea blend and steeping in water would be the most familiar example of how this dried root might be used. However dried ginger root can added to any liquid for spicy beverage or broth infusions, think: spirits, simple syrups, soups etc. Be sure to sieve the infusion before serving the dried root generally will be too fibrous too chew.
Ginger Root, Crystallized, slices
Folk reported snacking from the bag and finishing it before being able to incorporate the pieces into their baking. Crystallized ginger (aka candied ginger) is boiled and preserved with a layer of sugar crystals. It is chewy, sweet, and spicy. These pieces range in size but are often the rough size of peach or plum slices. They are often chopped before using.
Ginger Root, Crystallized, medium pieces
Due to the popularity of the large slices of crystallized ginger, we decided to carry medium and small pieces. These are already prepared at sizes more frequently used in baking, though they would be sweeter since their smaller size means more surface area for sugar coating.
Ginger Root, Crystallized, small pieces
We were very excited about offering these (even) smaller pieces of crystallized ginger. We could fit a small amount into our Try-Me sample-size pouches, making them accessible without risk to anyone unfamiliar with candied ginger. Being smaller than the medium pieces or slices, they have even more surface area and therefore even more sugar coating.
Ginger Snacks: Berry Colada
This offering represents our attempt at giving into the tide of nibbling cooks. We decided to round out the sweet, spicy flavor with a tart berries, and tropical pineapple. We sought to pair the chewy ginger and dried fruit with crunchier texture of dried coconut. We are eager to share this snack pack—and maybe we can help some cooks leave alone their plain candied ginger for baking.
Whether it’s the sweet, candied charm of crystallized ginger or the aromatic, spicy notes of ground ginger, it's a star in seasonal baking.
